Hi, i have a Austin Healey sprite with a Nissan A15 engine (1500cc, 4 cyl OHV, mildly tuned with longer duration cam).
I have a newish 38DGES which is great when i’m on the motor way, but around town its too much making the car annoying to drive. Also i’m moving up into the mountains and would prefer more torque rather than max power.
i think the best thing would be to change to 32/36 DGEV,should me a more pleasant drive at part throttle. But is it possible to convert the the existing Synchronous carb to be Variable ? essentially change the linkage to make a 38DGEV ?

No, there is no way to change the 38 DGES to variable throttle system (two-stage).
You can replace it with a 32/36 DGEV however, as the mounting stud pattern and throttle lever orientation are identical.
